Down to earth counsellor with CBT-based approach, I offer services in French and English, in Squamish and online.
Counselling services with a CBT lense
My approach in counselling is principaly influenced by Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Extensive research support the effectiveness of this form of therapy for various difficulties; anxiety, depression, social worries, substance use, PTSD, etc. This model proposes that it is what we are thinking about an event that directly influence how we feel and what we do in response. By identifying thoughts and beliefs associated with distress or unhelpful behaviors, a person can start to change certain thoughts, evaluate and transform them in more productive and balanced ways of thinking. Consequently, this can lead to relief of difficult emotions and changes in behaviors.
The mental health support I offer is trauma informed and elements from other modalites can be used in meetings depending on the situation, like solution-focused brief therapy, mindfulness, motivational interviewing or DBT.
I can plan meetings in person and online on Tuesday and Wednesday, from 9am to 8pm. My fees are of 150$ for a 60 minutes meeting.
Mental health support for adults and youth
Adult Counselling
I provide sensible and practical support, with an open mind and curious attitude. Taking the step to meet with a counsellor requires courage and it’s important for me to follow your pace towards change. I take time to listen and understand what are the objectives of the person in front of me. During our time together, I will guide you to reflect, connect, express and experiment, all depending on your needs and goals.
Objectives we can set our sights on:
Managing anxiety and stress
Dealing with depression
Understanding emotions and behaviours
Reducing the impacts of trauma and PTSD
Change unhelpful habits
Improving relationships
Making choices/handle change
Expanding your confidence
Youth Counselling
I offer youth counselling services with young people 12 years old and up.
Trust and a collaborative spirit create a positive rapport. This is central when working with youth. My intention is to meet a young person with empathy and offer a safe place where they can open up about challenges. Seeing a counsellor can be an opportunity to normalize one’s experiences, learn strategies and develop abilities. I make a point to include parents in the process of change when appropriate, while respecting confidentiality.
